Lucky Charms Sugar Cookies

Well, well, well. Look what we have here sweet friends..the first official post since the week long Launch Party kicking off the official launch of my new site (this site!), The Sprinkle Factory. That’s officially a whole lot of officially. I’m ready to just dig right in. While I had so much fun giving things away to all of you all week long, I missed sharing sweets with you guys so much. So let’s just dig right in, with a giant spoon, and a huge helping of Lucky Charm Sugar Cookies, just in time for St. Patrick’s day. Because what is more lucky then a bowl of Lucky Charms for breakfast, unless it’s a bowl of just Lucky Charm’s marshmallows for breakfast…now THAT’S lucky and of course magically delicious.

Psst! Did you miss the launch party? No worries you still have time to sign up for my monthly newsletter and be entered to win a $50.00 Amazon.com gift card + baker’s prize pack from me! You can sign up to the right of this post, or just below it!

I have been wanting to makes these cookies for months and months guys. Do you remember when I made my giant Froot Loop cereal cookies? If not check them out here! The moment I completed them my heart wanted to make a Lucky Charm set. But I knew it would be fun to make them around St. Patrick’s day. Plus they are the perfect addition to my foods in disguise series, see them all here! Now before anybody gets too judgy I know, I know, the marshmallow to cereal ration is way off. There is entirely too much cereal. But if I was going to maintain my position as cereal to marshmallow ratio checker on Saturday mornings, (where I pick out the marshmallows for the kiddos to make their cereal you know, just right) I was going to have to make cereal cookies as well. Facts of life guys.

Cookies Cutters Included In My Lucky Charms Sugar Cookies

I had planned on making this a full tutorial. The cookies really are my favorite kind, super simple with big impact when they come together! But as I started to lay out the cutters and plan the cookies I was like whoa, that’s a lot of cutters. Like a whole lot. So instead of a tutorial, let’s consider this Lucky Charm Sugar Cookie inspiration. I’ll share with you all the info I can and you can make your own set with what you have on hand. First off I’d like to proudly share, I didn’t buy a single cutter! Instead I dug through all the cutters I had to make it work and I’m willing to bet you can too! Here’s a look at what I used to make each shape.

Wowza. That’s A Lot Of Cutters.

Yep, it is. 18 to be exact. Some were Sweet Sugarbelle cutters, and some were from Wilton. Other’s were small fondant cutters which I believe are also Wilton. I used my regular sugar cookie recipe and dyed each of the marshmallows their cordinating color, a signature “look” around here. I think I was most proud of the Sweet Sugarbelle sandcastle cutter which when flipped made the perfect hour glass. Scratch that, I think maybe it was the skull shape turned moon with a pretzel. Also let’s talk about the cereals a minute. Does anybody..and I mean anybody have any idea what on earth the cereals are? I did my best just from looking at pictures…but I was pretty stumped out side of X and a fish maybe? I’m not sure anybody has ever bothered to even explain them either. I mean let’s face it those mallows are the real stars here.

And while we’re on the topic of the second citizen cereal! Let’s talk about that texture. The one thing I was so super sad about with these cookies is how you can’t see the texture very well in the pictures. In person it’s so awesome and probably my favorite part! You can see it better below. This was done by simply using a sponge and some outline icing on the cookies after they had completely dried. This is the same technique I used on the pizza crust for these pizza cookies. Again, so easy. Big impact.

Now let’s talk my favorite element color!

And that’s it! Over all the biggest part of this project was just digging through cutters to find all the right pieces. Now what luck person should I send these Lucky Charm Cookies too?!
